THE OLD IDENTITY PIC-NIC.

To the Editor.

Sir, — I observe from your daily contemporary U.at an apparently would-be facetious scribbler—one of those who never let a chance slip—has attempted to perpetrate a very small joke at the old identities, upon imaginary or rather empty premises, which the Daily Times should know is purely nonsensical ; of course, I understand all about * our columns being always open, ” kc. There is not the slightest fear of the old identities, who arrived by the Philip Laing. or the John Wickliffe having their equanimity disturbed (other than humorously), watched, or in the slightest degree incommoded by the presence of any process server ; nor yet, if possible, by the presence of that notorious plague called the man “ who see* through all diplomatic dodges.” These old identities are perfectly free, independent and exempt from any little bills, instalments, claims, or Government impositions on account of passage money or otherwise ; and your contemporary should know this; and as I like a good joke as well as any other person, the only ghost of one I can see in the scribblings of “ A Dishonored Bill” is the joke played upon the Daily Times.—l am, &c., Old Identity. p.S.—Mr A.D.8., I thiuk, is a “new iniquity,” not well posted up.—o,l.
