Late Advertisements. JEW ZEALAND SHIPPING COMPANY (Limited.) Capital : £100,000: IN 10,000 SHARES OF £lO EACH. Registered Office: Christchurch. Directors : J. L. Coster R. H, Rhodes George Gould J. T. Peacock William Reeves John Anderson R. Cobb, Bankers: Bank of New Zealand. Solicitors : Garrick and Cowlishaw. The objects of the Company are to provide increased facilities for the New Zealand shipping trade, by the building, purchasing, or chartering first class vessels suitable for the trade of the Colony. Five thousand shares have been subscribed for in Canterbury, chiefly by importers and exporters, and the co-operation and support of other Provinces is now sought with the view of making a united Colonial effort to attain the objects of the Company, and to secure to the whole Colony the benefit of a line of trading ships, which shall not only be free from existing monopolies and influences, but the absolute management and control of which shall be retained in the Colony. It is hoped that the support to be received in other parts of the Colony will warrant the Directors in forthwith recommending to the Shareholders to largely increase the nominal capital of the Company. An emissary has already been despatched to London with ample powers, instructions, and means to represent the Company there, and to immediately commence the despatch of Vessels at regular intervals. The Committe of the Otago Freight Association feel that in joining the New Zealand Shipping Company the foundation of a strong Coloniol Company, capable of competing with existing monopolies, will be accomplished; and they confidently invite the public of Otago to apply for shares. Importers and Exporters are reminded of the undoubted necessity which exists in their cases for the establishment on a firm footing of an independent line of sailing vessels to Port Chalmers and other Ports of the Colony; and the investigating public hardly require to have their attention drawn to the fact, which is notorious, that at least one shipbroking and ship-owning firm has amassed a considerable fortune in the New Zealand trade. Over three shousand shares have already been subscribed for by Importers in Dunedin. The number of Shares already applied for by bona Jide Importers, and the promise of freight support received in Otago and Canterbury, render it undoubted that the New Zealand Shipping Company will be a success. Applications for Shares, accompanied by the Banker’s receipt for payment of 10s a Share on the number applied for, will be received by Mr Evan Prosser (Kempthorne, Prosser, and Co,, Dunedin), at whose office Forms of Application can be obtained. In the event of no allotment, or only a partial allotment, being made, the allotment calls paid will be proportionately returned. One further call only, of 10s per share, may be required to be made during the current year, making a total amount paid up of 20s per share. No further calls will be made at less intervals than three months. The Share List will be closed on the 26th instant. w ANTED the BONE AND SINEW OF OTAGO TO RA^RONIjSE KERR’S READY-MADE CLOTHING ESTABLISHMENT, GEORGE STREET, Where they con buy their GOODS at Prices WHICH DEFY COMPETITION !! ! f I THE First of a Series of Lectures upon the Person and Coining of our Lord Jesus Christ will be delivered (D.V.) on Lord’s Day % Evening next, the 16th inst., in Farley's Hall, Princes street, by Mr Bruntan.
