T}}e seventh competition for the medal presented by Mr Seaton to thp Peninsula Volunteers took pUce at Portobello butts on Saturday. The day was not favorable for good shooting, a strong gusty wind blowing from the left. Conditions- medal to be won three times, or twice in succession ; ranges, 200. 400, and GOO yards ; Hytbe position at 200 and 4' to yards; any position at GOO yards; five shots at each range. The following are the highest scorers : —Ensign Dickson, 45 ; Vol, Jas. M'Cartuey, 42 ; Vol. A Dickson, 40; Lieut, M'Cartuey, 38; Vol. A. Young, 38; Vpl, John Kerr, 37; Cor, M'Cartuey,

A match will shortly take place between the Portobello Eifles and a crack Glasgow corps, the 3rd Lanarkshire, The seventh competition for the Officers’ Cup was fired by the North Dunedin Eifles, at Pelichet Bay range, y< sC rday morning, and resulted in Corporal Thomas Hutchinson being the victor. The conditions were — Kangcs, 400 and 600 yards; seven shots at each; Wimbledon targets. About twenty men competed, and some creditable scores were made, although none were remarkable.
