The amount of revenue received at the Cus-tom-house on goods cleared for consumption this day, was LBll6s Id.

There has been a fair delivery of _ new wheat from the Oamaru and Timaru districts this week. From four to six thousand bushels have changed hands. The quality of the grain is generally superior, although in almost all of the Oamaru samples there is a trace of smut. The value at present is 4s 9d to ss, but when deliveries are more general the price will be lower. There have been no deliveries from Christchurch or from the Taieri. The Canterbury grain is reported to have suffered badly from wet, and it is expected that about a fourth of the crop in wheat will be unfit for milling. In oats transactions are light. There is no stock in the market. Quotations are as last given, 2s to 2s 2d for milling, and 2s for feeding. No sales in barley have been made. Malting is worth 6s. There is a good demand for flour, especially for export to northern ports. Sales of parcels have been made at Ll3 to Ll3s 10s. The town enquiry is good, but the bakers are only buying in small trade lots. Oatmeal has advanced to Ll2 and LI 2 10s in bags ; there is no stock in town. Bran, L 4; pollard, L 5 ; pearl bailey, L 24; hay, L 3; straw, L2 5s ; chaff, L 3 10s.

Mercer reports, for the week ending February 15 -Hetail prices only : Fresh butter, in i and 1 lb. prints, best quality, lid per lb ; second quality, 9d to lOd per lb; fresh butter in lumps, 8d per lb; powdered and salt butter, 9d per lb. The supply of fresh butter has fallen off very considerably, although the markets are well supplied, and the storekeepers have not to salt down the quantities they were doing lately. The prices have advanced a little, and several Inquiries have been made for salt butter in kegs, and the most of the trade are only supplying present orders, and holding their stocks for better prices. Cheese is not so plentiful this season, and the quality is not so good as usual; for best quality, 9d per lb; old and inferior cheese unsaleable. Side and rolled bacon, good quality scarce, 9d to lOd per lb. Colonial hams. Is to is Id per lb ; English hams, scarce, Is 6d per lb. Eggs are scarce this week, and selling at Is 8d per dozen.
