The total value of gold exported from the Ist January to the 30th September, 1871, was L 2.191,205, or L.33,620 more than the total value for the whole of 1870. The Directors are prepared to commence business forthwith, and believe that the capital to be called up can be safely and profitably employed without encroaching on the field already occupied by similar institutions. It is intended to apply to the Legislature of New Zealand, in their next Session, for an Act authorising the issue of notes in the Colony, and for other general purposes ; and to make any consequential alterations in the constitution of the Company in respect of the liability of the Shareholders, which may be required to accord with the conditions affecting the other Banks now issuing notes in the Colony.
