BLINDNESS CURED BY STRYCHNIA.
NIA. To the Editor.
Sir, —Professor Nigel, of Tubingen, has published reports of cases in which he has, by the use of strychnia, restored sight to patients suffering from deciy of vision or from blinlness. Strychnia, as is well known, is a deadly poison, but it has a wonderful eff ct in stimulating the nerves; and Professor Nigel found that m diseases of the optic nerves, whether functional or organic, its operation was alike speedy and efficacious. The quantity used is, of course, exceedingly small—one fortieth of a grain, mixed with water, and this so ution is not to be swallowed, but it is injected under the skin of one of the arms, which seems to render tile result m >re remarkable. This remedy has also been tried by oculists elsewhere, and with marked success.—l am, &c., Amices.
