To the Editor. Sißj The morning Councillor Barnes refers to I was s<nt to the Water of‘Leith to hart Out gravel. The water being too high, \ve took a load from the bank. L was then told that one dray only would be required for d time, a 8 the men were to be employed ou Albany street. I was theh dt liberty to work where I pleased. I cannot see anything so awfully strange in working for the' Corporation at half-past nine and for Mr Hawker at halfpast ten o’clock, as I receive orders every morning for every day’s work, and the time on each job is putin the time-sheet, with the name of the street and ward the work was done in; so that any jobbery would soon be found out.
