The monthly competition for the cup of the North Dunedin Rifle Company took place this morning at the Pelicbet Ray range, under the following con iitiona Class targets throughout ; five shots at 3 0, 400, and 500 yards ; no sighting shots ; position. standing at 30’, Dythe at 400, mid any at 500. The winner of the trophy on this occasion was Vol. Robertson, with a score of 45 points. We append the scores of the ten highest, by which it may be seni that the average is very good, considering the conditions : ,

The final competition of the Port Chalmers Naval Brigade for a place in tho inter-provin-cial pr ze tiring, took place on Friday and yesterday, at their butts, Sawyer’s Bay The weather on both days was exceedingly fine and suitable. First-class petty officer. George Wilson, made the highest score at the five ranges, namely.—seventy points ; Gunner J. Lane miking sixty-seven at the same time Petty officer Wilson, therefore, will represent the Naval Brigade at the forthcoming contest Major Atkinson will proceed to Oamaru to-morrow to conduct the final competition in that district.
