A CORRECTION.
To the Editor. Sir, — It would be a poor return for Mr Larnach’s kindn s*, if your local, referring to the pic-n c in his grounds, was allowed to go without correction. If your reporter had taken the slightest trouble to ascertain the facts of the case, he would have discovered that it was not only the employes of Messis A. and T. Burt, but als > those of Messrs Guthrie and Asher, the Distillery and the Gas Works, and that not only were the gt omuls lent, but also a most literal luncheon and refreshments provided for them, special attention being paid to the wants of the rising generation,—l am, &c., M'Sawdcst. Dunedin, January 2, 1873. [The reporters of the Evkninu Star could not possibly know anything of the arrangements, and are not responsible for the paragraph commented on, which was kindly supplied to us by one who was present. Possibly, had M'Sawdust, with his more precise knowledge, favored us with the account, he would have been spared the annoyance which has caused him to write the above letter.— Ed. E. S.]
