It would be noticed recently that Professor Anderson has identified the claimant for the Tichborne baronetcy as Orton, tried at the Criminal Sessions held in Castleraaine, in July 1859. The tenacity of the Professor’s memory, which enables him to discriminate an individual after a lapse of 13 years is all the more surprising, as he daily witnesses so many faces ; for if they were only estimated at the low average of 3000 weekly, he would iu the space alluded to have seen 2,028,0 0. This marvellous feat of memory is, however, not more astonishing than the circumstances under which it obtained occasion for its exercise, as the session terminated on the 4th of July, whereas the professor only made his appearance in Castlemaine on the 11th, for a six nights’ engagement, or seven days after their close. .Nor does the wonder cease here, for < n searching the record it is found that neither the names of Castro nor Orton appear amongst the prisoners indicted.— M. A, Mail.
