The papers announced the death of an old colonist— the Hon. John Holder Wedge, who figured conspicuously both in Tasmania and victoria many years ago. Me was born in England in 1792, and came out to Tasmania as an officer of the linperial Government to the Survey department in' 1824—48 years Ago. Ih 1836 he was the agent at Port Phillip of the company which Batman, Gellibrand, and others formed for the purpose of iaking Ihhd in the'then new settlement.
