To instantly obtain a change of speed, eunply mv new Patent Rearer with an eccentric bush on the axle of the inain driving wheel ; and mv driving wheel is c n trne'ed with two sets of toothed gearing ( of different diameters for driving the pinion j through wlvch the knife-bar receives i s motion ; the eccentric bush bavins a lever attached winch works in a quadrant wi i three perforations in it to receive the cate i on the soring. and. by aim> ly moving t e lever to any of those perforations, the machine can be easily thrown into fast sneer. slow speed, or nut of near. ( t has also levers attached to both sides of the machine, so as to regulate the height required to be cut. The object of this improvement is to obviate the necessity of substituting one pinion for another in order to obtain a change o speed. The great inconvenience and loss ot time that arises from this is perfectly well known to all practical farmers. Having succeeded in this long-desired object, I have secured my patent rights all over the world. These Reapers have been largely sold in Otago for ten years ; the yearly increasing demand for them, and the hundreds of testimonials received from all quarters, is the best proof of their superiority.
