The ketch Eliza M‘Fee sailed early this morning for Catlin’s River. The fore-and-aft schooner Jane Hannah, with a cargo of timber, arrived this forenoon from Havelock, ami passed up to Dunedin. A fore-and-aft schooner, supposed to be the FJoren- e, arrived from the (mast, and passed up to Dunedin last evening. The barque P.C. U, from Newcastle, was signalled at the Heads this morning, and at noon to-day was towed by the steam-tug Geelong to a discharging berth off Observation Point,
The barque Eleanor, for Newcastle, was this forenoon towed to sea by the steam-tug Geelong. The 0.8. Storm Bird, from the Bluff, arrived this forenoon, and was placed alongside the ship Otago. Captain Fraser, of the Storm Bird, reports sighting a square-rigged vessel ten miles to the southward and eastward of Cape Saunders, which will likely prove to be one of the overdue home vessels. The Dido, which arrived in Port this afternoon, is in model the counterpart of H.M.'h Blanche, which visited this port with Prince Alfred. The following is a list of her officers :—Captain, W. C. Chapman ; lieutenants, Ducat, Knox, and Martin; navigating lieutenant, Pettry; surgeon, Comrio; assistant surgeon, Good; paymaster, Robinson; assistant paymaster, Bray ; chief engineer, Swan ; assistant engineers, Guttndge and Peak; sub-lieutonants, Coker, Cutffeld, Harvey, and (4’Callaghan ; midshipmen, Biddulph and Kean. 'I he armament of the Dido consists of six 04pounder shunt guns aud two seven-inch 04pounder rifled guns, Woolwich pattern ; and her engines are 330 horse-power. Captain Chapman, her commander, is a brother of Col. Chapman, of the 18th Royal Irish. The Dido will be open to public inspection at noon to-morrow.
