AMUSEMENTS.

miMESS THEATKV.. ‘‘ Book the Third/’ a uice little comedy, and “The Game of Speculation,’’ were played last evening to a moderate attendance, In the latter piece Mr Hoskins is inimitable as Asq.blc Hawk. To-night; “Naval Ihigageiheutu” and the “Siege of Stralsuud ” will be produced, . MASONIC HALL. Mr Richards’s popularity is on the increase, for, despite the many counter attractions last evening, there was a marked improvt ment in the attendance at this place of amusement. A new programme was presented, in which Mr Rickards gave abundant proof of the versatility of his talent, which, combined with racy humor devoid of vulgarity, renfered hja psrji of fchp performance a great success. His impersonations of “Villiam Timothy Baggs,” “Rat-a cake,” and “The Blighted Gardiner/’ were especially good. In the latter, Mr Rickards introduced a little burlesque, and proved that his powers as an actin' arc of no mean order. The motto sang, “ Second thoughts arc often best,” was well sung-and well received, while Mrßickards’s rendering of “1 know my way about” was a true reflex of a character which may be met with any day in the streets of Loudon. We must also say a word in praise of the entertainments comiquc by Miss Carrie and Mr Rickards. “ Belgravia” was excell.nt, and “The Trip to Calais” is certainly a very mirth-provoking farce. Mr Hallam sang several new songs with pleasing effect, his best efforts being “ In this old chair” and “The anehpr’s weighed,” the hitter qf wjfipfy hacl to he Repeated, thp aiufiegcp declining to be satisl/d with the singer bowing his acknowledgments. A other change of pro? gramme is announced for this evening. MOIi KINGTON CONCLHT. An amateur concert was given at Mornington last night. The whole affair was an unqualified success, and reflected the greatest credit upon its promoters and conductors. Indeed, as Mr J. B. Attwood, the chairman, stated in his closing remarks, the evening’s enterta mneut was the best that had taken place in this district, both in regard to the quality of the songs and singers, and the excellent arrangements of the committee. The school house iu which it was held was crowded. Want of space prevents our giving a detailed account; but we must remark that the comic songs, some of them in character, were rendered iu capital style, and were not characterised by the vulgarity which is too frequently inseparable from this portion of our amateur concerts. The night's enjoyment was agreeably concluded with a dance, which was kept up to the small hours of the morning to the music provided by Mr and Mbs Lack. Wc believe it is intended

to give another concert under the same auspice.?, and have no doubt that the efforts of the promoters to provide concerts of a superior quality in the district will be well and deservedly rewarded. CONCERT AT ST. GEORG e’s HALL. A concert was given kvt evening at St. George’s Hall by the choir of -Sr. Banks Church on behalf of the Sunday scho 1. The instrumental portion was far in advance of the vocal, which, with the exception of a duet by Messrs Towsey and one or two choruses, will not bear commendation. There was a good attendance, and we believe the Sunday school will receive a handsome addition to its funds. We are requested to state that Messrs Reeves and Co. and Messrs Marshall and Copeland kindly gave the necessary refreshments for the choir.
