The lire raged unchecked with great fury, and many of the principal buildings were destroyed. The military authorities were appealed to to blow up large buildings to arrest the progress of the flames The chief seat of the lire was in Commercial and Centre streets in North Boston, between the Bay and Charles River. 4 hero were 700 firemen on the ground.
