BRUTAL MURDER IN MELBOURNE.

The name of the woman who was murdered in Little Lonsdale street, Melbourne, the morning th- Tararua left, was Mary Cooper. The quarrel, which resulted in her death, arose from a trifling dispute about two shillings. The woman had given her husband half-a-crown to go for sixpence worth of beer, and on his return asked for the change. He answered by giving her a kick, when she fell down insensible. On being taken to the hospital, the injuries were found to be fatal, and she soon expired. Cooper was not drunk. He is thirty-three years of age, and was her second husband. ____________________
