Wellington, Oct. 28. With respect to the Rangitikei-Manawatu Bill, the Independent to-day censures the Government in strong terms for the course pursued by the Premier in the Legislative Council on the last day of the session. It says that a slight was inflicted on the House, apd that this is the first occasion on which such a gross breach of Parliamentary etiquette has occurred in this Colony. Nelson, Oct. 28. An open verdict was returned on the body of De Caippo, which was found in the Wakapuaka Ranges. Ho is supposed to have poisoned himself, and to nave a widow living, though he was about to be married at the time of bis disappearance. Christchurch, Oct. 28. The Board of Education decided to-day to draw the attention of the Provincial Government to the necessity for the establishment of a Provincial University in Canterbury. The Provincial Council is convened for November 22nd.
Wellington, Oct. 29. The city representatives will address the electors next week.
Auckland, Oct, 2D, The Port Albert Auxiliary of the United Kingdom Alliance, Eoclney district, have passed a resolution that Mr Sheehan has broken his promise to the meeting of the settlers before his election, and that his speech on the Permissive Bill was disingenuous and a mere evasion.
