THE VOLUNTEERS.
The eighth competition of the Wakati Rangers, for the Challenge Cup presented to them by Mr Henry Driver, took place on Saturday morning, at the company’s range. The winner on the present occasion is Ensign Mackenzie, with the fine total score of 70 points. The cup has now been won three time by Lieut. Marshall, twice by Vol. W. Lacey, twice by Ensign Mackenzie, and once by Vol. A, Frazer. The morning was very line : there was a slight wind from the front, but it did uot appear materially to affect the shooting. The conditions were:—Hanges, 400, 500, and 600 yards ; seven shots at each range ; any position. The cup must be won live times before becoming the property of any erne. In addition to the cup there were live ammunition prizes;'the five highest scorers being prize takers. The following are the scores :
