We find in this defeat other subjects worthy of notice. We submit them in the shape of questions. The opposition journals were loud in the praise of the Hon Mr Waterhouse (formerly Premier of South Australia.) The Dunedin Daily Times, but a few weeks ago, solemnly assured its readers that Mr Waterhouse, joining any Ministry, was a guarantee of good measures for the welfare of the Colony. Other journals promulgated similar views ( ami it will be interesting to observe their opinions how that Mr ‘Waterhouse is chief of a Cabinet which contains as one of its elements what a contemporary styles “that unclean thing” Mr Vogel. Yet these papers descending to use such utterly coarse language magnified the virtues of our new Premier, vice Fox. Will they bo honestenough to give him their loyal support now ? We personally knew the Premier long before the goldfields broke out in Adelaide. He worked his way honorably up, and was sincere.
