Breadstuff's and grain are without change. Flour continues in good trade demand at Ll3 to Ll3 10s. The town sale is, however, becoming slack, owing to the ridiculously low price at which bread is being sold by some of the bakers, Second c’ass Hour is in better demand ; for fair samples, LlO 10s is the value. Bran is scarce at L 4. Pollard has a good sale at L 5 10s. In oatmeal there is not much doing, trade lots are quoted from Lll to LI I 10s. Wheat is coming forward sparingly; good milling samples are worth 5s 2d to 5s 4a. Second class dull at 4s 6d, and fowl wheat firm at 3s Oats are firmer, feeding have found purchasers at as high as 2s 2d, the ordinary rate however, is 2b to 5s Id. Milling are wanted at 2s 2d to 2s 3d. Of barley, the market is quite bare. Malting samples are worth from Op to 6s 3i ; feeding 4s 61. Straw, L2 5s ; hay, L 3 15s ; chaff, L 3 15s. A. Mercer reports for the week ending October 19 :~Ketail prices only. Fresh butter in 41b and lib prints, best quality, Is to Is 2d per lb; second quality, lid to la; fresh butter in lumps, lid ; powdered and oalt butter, best quality. Is ; second quality unsaleable. The market has been completely gutted with fresh butter this week, and the long looked for decline in E rices has been fully realised. Storekeepers ave been salting down large quantities of butter, which meets with a ready market at lid to 11.Id per lb. The demand for new season salt butter continues brisk, and the supply is readily met. Cheese is in good request ; good samples arc, however, scarce, and worth from 8d to 9d per lb; second quality, 6d per lb. Side and rolled bacon is fetching 9cl to lOd per’ lb. Eggs are getting a drug in the market, and selling at 8d to 9d per doz.
