THE VOLUNTEERS.

The Guards and Wakari Rangers having made several improvements at their range, celebrated the re opening by a friendly match—seven shots each at 200 and 600 yards—which, as anticipated, resulted in a victory for the Hangers, who, though a small company, turn out a good team, and fire very pluckily. They were one man short, howeve . The Guards, on the other hand, muster better at drill (as shown by the Adjutant’s returns) than at the rifle range ; besides, it seems the Wakari range is new to most of them, few having fired over it more than once or twice ; and in the strong breeze that was blowing this morning it was difficult for the most experienced o£ the firing party to get a good aim, hence the small scores recorded. A return match, we understand, is to be tired at Anderson’s Bay range on an early day.
