To the various footmen and pages who have beoii in her service not less than 24 years Her Majesty has presented silver medals, which will be worn by the recipients. The following obituary notice was sent the other day to the South Aunti'o.Ucin Jh’ylsfev: — ‘ Died, at his residence, alter a short illness, Mi- A. Greig, of Gumeracha The d ceased was an old colonist, having settled in Gumeracha in 18-H.” It was afterwards found that the man was not dead, and that for some unknown reason sent the notice to the i aper himself. “‘Conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman” does not escape as scot free in Fiji as it does in more civilised society. The Fiji Ouz V<-, of 10th August, states : —“ Lieutenant U’.Ncil, of H.M. yacht Vivid, has been all the week under arrest in consequence of charges laid against him by Mr March, H. B, M. Consul. We understand the charges stated that Lieutenant O’Veil had been guilty of conduct unbecoming an officer and gentleman in abducting a Tukalau or Line woman from Mr March’s premises.”
