The P.C.8., for Newcastle, was towed to sea this afternoon. The s.s. Rangatira sails for Lyttelton this evening. The excursion this afternoon to the ship Hydaspes was largely patronised. The brig Byron, cleared at the Customs for Hokianga, was to-day removed from the Railway Jetty, prior to sailing with the first favorable wind. Tho p.s. Samson was this morning taken out of the Floating Dock, was berthed alongside tho Port Chalmers Railway Pier, and on Monday next proceeds to Dunedin to complete repairs. The Storm Bird left tho Bluff at 8,38 p.m. on the 11th, and arrived at Dunedin at 2.38 p.m. this afternoon, having had fine weather on tho trip. Tho N.Z.S.S. Go.’a s.s. Taranaki, 299 tons, PJ. Wheeler, arrived this morning at 7 o’clock. Left Onehunga on the sth inst; UeW Plymouth on the (ith ; Nelson on tho 7th ; Picton on the Bth ; Wellington on the 9th ; Lyttelton on the 11th, at 10 a.m. ; and arrived as above. Experienced strong easterly gales from Onehunga to Wellington, thence light variable winds and fine weather. The s.s. Storm Bird, from Invercargill, arrived at 1.15 to-day, and passed up to Dunedin. _____
THE MAY QUEEN. The Immigrntiou Officer bore baa received notice that the May Queen left Loudon for Otago rm the 29th July, with passengers equal to 85 statute adults. He has also received notice of the departure of the ship Palmerston from Hamburg tu Otago on the 29th July alt., wit b 228 statute adult emigrants on board, consisting ot— Married Couples ■ 100 statute adults. Children - -43 ~ Single Women >sl ~ Single Men ■ -34 ~ The list of the emigrants per Palmerston will be published in the course of next week.
