The Charter Towers diggings is a complete failure. Miners are returning disgusted. The Government has been asked to bring buck Victorian diggers.

The Mining on Private Propeityßill has been considerably amended by the Legislative Council. Its leading principles have been eliminated. Victoria, New South Wales, and South Australia have agreed to give one-third each towards the cost of a steamer from Java to Port Darwin.
