A Mrs Cotteriil had taken cjUrge p£ then* from that time to the present'; but she being no Jpngep inclined to keep them, as no money had' cm&e from Melbourne as promised, the police had to bring them before the Copß as neglected children. His Worship replied that it was greatly to be regretted that the law was defective, that persons could go from the Colony, and leave their children a burden on the State. In this case the children would be sent to the Industrial School for seven years ; to be educated in the Church of England form of religion. BYE-LAW CASES.
