At the Wandsworth Police Court, on June 28, a young lady was summoned for having assaulted one of her mother’s female “attendants.” On a slight provocation the defendant called the girl a blackguard, threw knives and forks at her, cast a gooseberrypudding iu her face, and caught hold of her arm. The young lady pleaded provocation, and stated that the servant, seizing the remnants of the pudding, had retorted in a practical manner, and damaged her dress. The magistrates inflicted a penalty of L2 4s, including costs.
