The amount of revenue received at tb- (Jus-tom-house <m (roods cleaved for consumption to*dav. was L 252 11s 5d
Grain and breadstuff's are unchanged. Stocks of prime wheat are brooming exhausted, and the value, in consequence, has strengthened Parcels are held for 5s 4d and 6s 6d. Transactions are very limited, however, at the latter quotation. Second class samples are unsaleable. Fowl wheat is wanted, but there is no improvement in the price which remains at 3s. Malting barley is in demand at from 5s 6d to 6s; feeding Sorts have a good sale at 4s 6d. Good milling oats have met with a better enquiry ; several parcels have been placed at 2s and 2s 2d ; feeding lots are dull at Is lOd. In flour, good brands have met with a firstrate sale at Ll3 and Ll3 10s. Stocks are heavy, although they will soon become low if more wheat is not offered. Inferior flour is in steady demand at LI 1, Bran has been advanced to L 4 ; the enquiry is good, and stocks are low. Pollard, L 5 10s. Oatmeal, LI I 10s. Hay, L 3 10a. Chaff, L 3 10s. Straw, L2. Potatoes, L 7 for Provincial; L 6 for Australian. A. Mercer reports for the week ending September 7 Retail prices only. Fresh butter in slb and lib prints, best quality, la 4d to Is 6d per lb ; second quality, Is 4d ; fresh butter in lumps, Is 2d ; powdered and salt butter, best quality. Is 2d ; second, lOd to lid. The supply of fresh butter still continues on the increase ; the fall in price, expected in my last report, has not yet taken place however, but may be expected shortly, as the quantity received by storekeepers generally more than meets the demand. Good samples of new season salt butter are not to be bad, and are worth from Is to Is Id per lb. Cheese is in good request; good samples are scarce however, and worth 8d to 9d per lb ; second quality, 6d per lb. Side and rolled bacon is fetching 9d to lOd pfr I l '. Bgga continue very plentiful with a large demand existing at Is per dozen.
