The South British insurance commences business in September 2. Mr Alfred Boardman has been appointed manager. Shares will be allotted on Wednesday to the extent of half the applications, The Thames Advertiser and Auckland Star publish returns showing the amounts paid by Government for advertising. The Advertiser declares that if free expression of public opinion is to be smothered by giving such liberty in the bestowal of advertisements, there will soon not be a Press in the Colony worthy of tbe name.
