AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of delegates from various Agricultural Associations met at Mr J. Wain’s Hotel, Manse street, this afternoon at two o’clock. There were present :—Delegates ; Taieri society, Messrs George Drain, James Allan ; Tokomairiro society, Messrs Clark and Gillies ; Palmerston society, MessJS M’Kenzie and Douglas; Blueskin, Messss Green and Pitt; Oamaru, hon. John M‘Lean. M W. A. Tolmie was elected chairman. After protracted discusaion, it was resolved, on the motion of Mr Douglas—- “ That it is desirable to form a Provincial Association to carry out pastoral and agricultural shows.” On the motion of the Hon. John M'Lean —*• That a committee be formed to carryout the resolution, to consist of various members of the different associations ; and that the members present form themselves into a committee, with power to add to their number. ” That the first Provincial Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s show be held at Dunedin between Christmas and the new year, aud that it be an exhibition of live stock, agricultural machinery aud implements, and of grain and other Colonial produce. The Chairman stated that the brewers of Dunedin were prepared to give prims of L3O and L2O for the best samples of Colonial grown barley exhibited. It was further rasolred— “That the committee should consist of an equal number of country and town members. [Left sitting.]
