[By Electric Telegraph ] August 5, Mr Gillies will move, on Wednesday, a motion that no legislation on purely local subjects be done in the Assembly. Mr .Reynolds will move as an amendment, “provided that with the view of rendering Provincial legislation more efficient, the present Provinces be abolished, and two new Provinces he constituted—one to consist of a Province in the North Island, and the other of a Province in the Middle Island ; and further, that the Government introduce a Bill giving effect to these resolutions during the present session.
