WASTE LAND BOARD.
Yesterday. The Waste Land Eoard met at noon yesterday. Present—the Chief Commissioner, Messrs Hughes and Allen. It was resolved that block 16, Cromwell, be put up in five acre sections at the next sale of Crown lauds. Upset price, L2 an acre. - Captain Fraser’s letter, urging the necessity for surveying the boundary line between Otago and Canterbury Lake, Ohan, was referred to the Government. On Edmund Smith’s letter, respecting the road to the North Presbyterian Church, Tuakitoto, it was resolved to reserve a road GO links wide across the Crown lands, in a line indicated on the plan. Henry Detert’s and E. A. Leggi’s applications to purchase land under agricultural leases, were sanctioned. The letters from water-race owners, asking that a reserve one mile wide on each side of the Tcviot Fiver for six miles should be made if Messrs Cargill and Anderson’s sale is sanctioned, were referred to the Government, who were requested to send surveyors to mark the extent along the Teviot Kiver required for the mining interests, and to report as to the width necessary for the maintenance of the works. The time for completing the survey of Messrs Cargill and Anderson’s purchase was extended to the period of detention, on a declaration being made before the Warden of the district as to the detention from snow. Henry Faulkner’s application to have a bush reserve on block 2, Clarendon, put up for sale, was declined. P. A. Dagg’s application for a coal lease near Cromwell was considered. The assent of the runholdcr being obtained, the deposit paid and the site surveyed, the lease to be granted on the usual terms.
