INTERCOLONIAL FREE TRADE.
To the Editor . Sir,-In reading over his Excellency’s speech, os reported by telegraph, I. am surprised to find that no allusion is made to the important subject of intercolonial free trade. It seems strange that the country should be congratulated on the prosperous condition of the agricultural interest, at a time when agricultural produce is at a lower price than it has perhaps been known to be in the history of the Colony. I should think it would have sounded more rational to have stated that efforts were being made to abrogate the existing duties on our produce in Australia, and thereby remove some of the difficulties which press so he vily on our agriculturists’ —I am, &c., Observer.
