Archibald Lamb has had his thigh broken by accident. 1.55 p.m. There is considerable excitement in Caledonians, owing to the finding of some rich specimens. Shares are up to L 45.

Wellington, July 16, In the Lower House, the Premier gave notice of his intention to move an address of congratulation to the Queen on the recovery of the Prince of Wales ; Mr Gisbourne, notice of a Public Health Bill; Mr Vogel of Drawbacks Bill; Life Asssurance Companies Bill, Public Trusts Officers Bill, Tramways Bill, and Sharebrokers Amendment Act.

Lawrence, July 16, 2.27 p in. At a public meeting held here last night, the following resolutions were passed : 1. This meeting solemnly protests against the sale of large blocks of laud within goldfields by the Executive and Waste Land Board of this Province, as contrary to the spirit and letter of the Goldfields and Waste Lands Acts, and is peculiarly prejudicial to the interests of the goldfields.

2. That the aid of the Executive Government of the Colony be asked to take the necessary steps to prevent any further sale of lauds in large blocks within goldfields, and to prosecute the individuals who have been guilty of entering into the late contracts for the sale of such blocks. 3. That the chairman at once communicate with the Colonial Secretary on the subject of the above resolutions.
