Sales this week have been well maintained, although the quantity gone through has not been more than the ordinary trade Millers, in expectation Of higher rates are not forcing it upon the market. Second class samples are moving freely at LlO. Bran is quiet at L2 10s. Pollard, LG. Oatmeal, Id2, Transactions in milling wheat have been heavier; several parcels have changed hands at 5s Gd, and this may be considered the market value for prime lots. Inferior kinds, and fowls wheat are not wanted, Oats are without improvement. At the beginning of the week slightly better prices were obtainable, but this has since fallen off. Malting barley is very firm at 5s Gd ; inferior is becoming scirce, and is now quoted at 4s 9d. Potatoes have advanced from 10s to LI per ton. Straw, L2 ss. Hay, L 3 10s. Chaff, L 3 10s. A. Mercer reports for the week ending 13bh Julyßetail prices only—Fresh butter, in ilb and lib prints, best 4d to Is Gd per lb ; second quality, Is 3d to ls4d ; fresh but‘er in lumps. Is Id; powdered and salt butter, best quality, Is ; second lOd to lid. The supply of fresh butter is still limited, and what is coming forward is met by the demand at increased rates on last week’s quotations. hor good samples of salt butter in kegs lOd per fb is being given. Cheese still keeps in good request, and a slight advance in price is perceptible. Best quality is worth Gd to Od ; second quality, Gd per lb. Side and rolled bacon is fetching 9cl to lOd, Eggs still continue very scarce, and are bringing Is 9d per dozen.
