SPIRITUAL INVESTIGATION ASSOCIATION.
To the Editor. Dear Sir,—l see that your correspondent “Nemo” has done the Spiritual Investigation Association the honor to grace that meeting by his presence. He says that he found none but spiritualists there. If so, it goes towards proving that to investigate is to become a spiritualist. The yart of ms remarks that I somewhat object to is the inference he draws : that by the members electing me as President the discussion would not be conducted with impartiality. If your correspondent had any reason to ainvo at such conclusions through my past conduct, either public or private, he mi'dit have been justified m his assertions; or, if the fact of avowing myself a believer in Spiritualism could have a tendency to bias my impartiality, he evidently, like many others, does not understand much about the teachings of the movement, but of that people must find out for themselves. I can only say that I have no ambition 1i be pushed to the front, or become the buffer for every self-inflated critic to run against. At the same time, I shall never shrink from what I consider my duty, or serving the cause of humanity to the best of my humble ab The ’ meeting was called by public advertisement. Surely it could not be the fault of Spiritualists if sufficient intending investigators were not present to elect one in whom they might have placed implicit confidence. It has been asserted that most of the members of the London Dialectical Society became Spiritualists, and no I believe our Society must drift into a regular Spiritual Association. Yours, &c., T. Redmavre. Dunedin, June 25.
