MAYOR’S COURT.
This Day. (Before His Worship the Mayor and R. H. Leary, Esq,, J. P.) DRUNKENNESS. Christina M'Naughton was fined ss. bye-law casks. Thomas Tomlinson, charg?d with allowing cows to wander, was let off with a caution. Jas. Mackay, allowing the Company’s water to waste, was fined 10s and costs. Henry Jones, for plying for hire off the stand, was mulcted in costs, being his first offence. ALLEGED LARCENY, George Harrington was charged with stealing a spring cart, valued at L 5, the property of John Gately. Mr Catomore appeared for the defendant. It appeared from the evidence that more than six months had elapsed since the commission of the alleged offence. The case therefore fell to the ground, AFFILIATION. Kate Malloch charged Alonzo Grennan wih neglecting to contribute towards the support of his illegitimate child. MrMacgregor appeared for the complainant. The defendant was ordered to (pay 10s weekly towards the child’s support. ASSAULT. The interminable case of Doudle v. Jane Alexander (for whom Mr Harris appeared), again took the form of a charge of assault and battery, which occupied their Worship’s attention for some time. The defendant was ordered to tiud two sureties of LlO each, and to enter into her own recoguisonce of* L2O, to keop the peace for three mouths. THREATENING LANGUAGE. Ellen Pepprell v. John Argyle, was dismissed. Mr Harris appeared for the defendant.
