MAYOR’S COURT.
Yesterday. (Before His Worship the Mayor and R. H. Leary, Esq., J.P.) DRUNK AND DISORDERLY. Ann Limon and 0. M‘Donald were each fined 40s or 24 hours’ imprisonment for drunkenness. CHARGE OF ROBBERY. Louis Evans, who did not appear, was charged by John S. Johnson, solicitor, with robbery on board the Wild Deer during her passage from Great Britain, Befoio issuing a warrant for his apprehension the Court desired, from evidence, what ground there was for the charge. James Kenwick, a fellow passenger, was called. On being questioned as to his knowledge of the case, he said he was aware the prosecutor had in his possession a Crimean shirt and two pairs of drawers, but he was nob aware they were ever in the possession of I.ouis Evans. Detective Farrell made enquiry, and appointed to meet the prosecutor, in order to go to search the accused’s luggage, but he did not keep his appointment. Sergeant Morton searched the boxes of the accused at Clyde, but none of the missing articles were found. The Bench were of opinion there was not a shadow of ground for the charge, which they considered frivolous in the extreme, and dismissed the case
