ACCIDENT AT THE OCEAN BEACH.
To the Editor, Sib, —I am surprised and indignant at the officers of the various volunteer companies in Dunedin not having adopted measures, either expressive of sympathy or with a view to relieve Mr Young, who unfortunitfely met with an accident during the late tiring at the Anderson’s Bay nutts. I have. waited in the hope that they would initiate steps to relieve the nnfortunate man’s distress, and this has solely deterred me from endeavoring to form a subscription list on his behiJf. As 1 an* now informed that the officers of the various corps do not feel themselves undir 4n% obligation to render him the. mnsh neeaea assistance, 1 submit it' is time that' some
outsiders should, failing the compani s’ action, commence a subscription for his relief. I enclose you my name an i shall be most happy to co-opera’c wi hj anyc e interested in promoting this object.—l am, <Src , •"YMPATHV. [We shall be happy to receive subacrip ions for the purpose. *We notice by the country papers that volunteers in country districts offer to contribute to any fund to give Mr Young assistance. — Ed.
