RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

This Day. (Before A. C. Strode, Esq., R.M.) Civil Cases. Wilson and Maddox v. Sturrock.—Lß, the amount of a dishonored promissory note. Judgment by default for the plaintiff for the amount, with costs. Mead v. Luckhurst, —L2 10s, a claim for sand delivered. The amount was admitted, but the defendant pleaded non liability, as he was not the principal in the matter. James Flinn was called, who said defendant was his partner. Judgment for the plaintiff for the amount, with costs. M‘Langhlan v. Robertson.—Ll I, for balance of wages. Mr Stout for the plaintiff; Mr Shapter for the defendant. The sum of L 4 10s was paid into Court. The plaintiff had been driving a milk cart, and had to rise at three o’clock in the morning, and work till eight at night. The difference between the parties was that the plaintiff claimed 20s a week, and the defendant said the agreement was for 15s awe k. For the defence, it was stated that the plaintiff had no agreement with the defendant j that he had not done his duty while in his service ; and that, although LlO had been offered in settlement of the account, it was done rather than allow the matter to come before the Court. Judgment for the plaintiff, LlO 5s 2d and costs.

Gibson v. Young —LIB 10s. Mr Stewart for the plaintiff; Mr M'Keay for the defendant. The sum of Ll6 5s was admitted, L 9 7s of which was paid into the Court, and a set-off pleaded for the balance. Judgment for the plaintiff, Ll2 13s and costs.
