THE UNIVERSITY.

The Council of this body met yesterday. The principal business under discussion was the consideration of twp recommendations from the Professors. The first had reference to the competitors for the .Richardson scholarship. The Professors found on going over the examination papers there were two boys, Park and Wilmot, who had only a difference of five marks between them out of a total of 500 ; and they accordingly recommended that a special paper should be submitted to them' with a yiew to deciding the scholarship. The recomendation was adopted, and the additional examination will probably take place on Monday or Tuesday. The other recommendation had reference to a proposed alteration of the curriculum, which, after discussion, was adopted. Candidates for the B.A. degree now have the option ol choosing one of two courses. The first is the literary course, which in the first year comprises Latin and Greek, Mathematics and English ; in the second, Latin, Mathematics, Mental and Natural Science ; and in the third year, Greek and English, Moral Philosophy (including Political Economy), and Natural Philosophy, In the Scientific Course, for the first year, are included Latin, Mathematics, and Natural Science; in the second year, Latin, Mathematics, Natural and Mental Science; and in the third year, Natural and Mental Science. In the latter course students will not be required to attend both the English and Moral Philosophy classes, but may take either of them.
