CONFERENCE OF MAYORS.

This afternoon, at three o’clock, a Conference of the Mayors of the different Provincial municipalities took place at the City Council Chambers. There were six present besides his Worship the Mayor of Dunedin, who was called to the chair. His Worship explained that the object oi the Conference was to secure permanent endowments for munioinalities. Mr Bastings, Mayor of Lawrence, moved an adjournment to to-morrow in order to give opportunity for consideration of the best method of endowment. The discussion on the adjournment was not concluded when our reporter left.
