Prime milling wheat is being placed in the market in larger quantities, and there is no disposition on the part of the millers to buy parcels of an}' size. At present there is every appearance of a decline, and probably the value in the course of six weeks may be from 4d to 6d per bushel less. For current wants the millers in town are giving 4s 9d for the best parcels obtainable, and 4s 6d for ordinary sorts. Fowl wheat is very scarce, and may be quoted at 3s 2d. Oats veiy dull; good milling arc offering at 2s, and feeding at Is lOd. Malting barley is wanted at 4s 6d to ss; inferior lota are placed at 2a 6d. In flour more business has been done. Town brands are quoted at LI I 10s to Ll2, according to the size of the parcel. Oatmeal, Ll2 10s to Ll3. Pearl barley has advanced, and L2O is now the price. Bran, L2 10s. Pollard, L 3 15s. Potatoes, good provincial, L 4 10s ; Australian, L 3 10s. Straw, L2 3s Hay, L 3 15s. Chaff, L 3 15s. A. Mercer reports for the week ending April 13Retail prices—Fresh butter, in 41b. and lib. prints, best quality, la per lb. ; second quality, lOd per lb. ; fr-ah butter in lumps, lOd per lb; powdered and salted butter, lOd per lb; salt butter, in kegs, 9d. Fresh butter, although not quite so plentiful, is still very abundant for the season of the year ; and storekeepers generally have in stock large quantities of their own salting. There has been a better demand lately for cheese, of which article the market is well supplied. Best quality is from 6d to Sd per lb ; second quality, 6d per lb. Side and rolled bacon, 9d to 10d per lb. Colonial haras, Is per lb., and meeting with ready sale. Eggs are exceedingly scarce, and fetching 2s 3d to 2s 6d per doz.
