The following additional particulars respecting H. M.S. Rosario may be interesting to our readers : —The s.s. Rosario, now in port, arrived from Wellington at 11,30 yesterday, having made the' passage to the Heads under canvas. Steam was then got up and the vessel was brought to an anchorage in a convenient position for communication with the shore The Rosario had been previously on commission in the Southern Hemisphere, and was recommissioned at Sydney on the 12th October last, from which port she sailed on the 19bh, and proceeded to Norfolk Island. She then cruisKl in the New Hebrides durifag December and January and returned to Sydney on the Bth February, 1872. She is commanded by Captain H. J. Challis, and carries 13 officers and 112 men, the greater proportion of whom were on board the unfortunate war ship Megmra, which was wrecked on the Island of St. Paul’s, where they remained for three months until rescued by the P. and 0. Company’s steamer Malacca. Her armament consists of four guns-namely, one 7-ton muzzle loading gun, two 40-pouuder breech-loading Armstrong guns, and one field-piece. Hex tonnage is 666 tons, sheis propelled by a screw-propeller, and has a nominal horse-power of 160. The Rosario is open to the inspection of vis tors, and will continue so until her departure for Auckland on Wednesday next. We understand that Mr A. M'Kinnon is the successful tenderer for stripping, overhauling, coppering, and repairing the ship Helios, and that she will probably enter the Graving Dock on Friday next. The schooner Strathnaver, from the coast, arrived yesterday afternoon, and passed up to Dunedin. The s.s. Omeo sailed for Northern Ports last evening. The s.s. Eangatira sailed early this morning for Lyttelton. _ . The schooners Result, from Waikouaiti, ami Cora, from the Coast, arrived this forenoon, , . , The p.s.
