The amount; ot revenue received at the Cus tom-house on goods cleared for consumption to' day. was £306 7s Id. The town millers are buying wheat at 4s 6d per bushel, delivered in Dunedin. Although holders are not placing a great deal in the market, still as much as will supply current wants is to be had. Several parcels for shipment to Britain are just now being secured, and this prevents the market from becoming overstocked. Good milling parcels can be had at 2s, and feeding lots are' supplied by the farmers to dealers, in quantities to suit them, at Is lOd. Last season's discolored oats will not bring over Is 4d. Malting barley is enquired for at 4s 6d. Provincial-grown potatoes may be quoted at L 4 : the price is unsettled owing to heavy shipments from Australia. Those from Australia are selling at L 3 if they are in good order: a large proportion of late shipments has been quite unfit for use. There is a quiet and steady trade being done in flour. Town buyers continue to purchase only in trade parcels. Good brands are offered at Ll2. Oatmeal, LI3; bran, L 3; pearl barley, Ll7; pollard, L 4; hay, L 3 19s; straw, L2 ss; chaff, L 3 10s. A. Mercer reports for the week ending March 30Retail prices—Fresh butter, in £lb. and lib. prints, best quality, Is per lb. ; second quality, lOd per lb. ; fresh batter in lumps, lOd per lb ; powdered and Silted butter, lOd per lb; salt butter, in kegs, 9d. Fresh butter continues plenful, and the demand is not equal to the supply. Storekeepers have resorted to salting down, a very unusual process at this season of the year, and at present unprofitable, seeing the retail price for salt butter is very little in advance of the price they are paying for fresh. In the cheese market the p ices remain the same. Best quality is from 6d to 8d per lb; second quality, 6d per lb. Side and rolled bacon, 9d to 10d per lb. Colonial haras, Is per lb. Eggs are in great demand this week but scarce, on account of the holidays, and selling at Is 6d per dozen.
