WASTE LAND BOARD.

The Board met as noon to-day. Present, Mr D. Re d (in the chair), Messrs Dancan and Hughes, and Mr Bathgate was present during the discussion of Mr Clarke’s cas-'. Messrs Caleb and Drummond’s application to have 1*237 acres of laud in Waipori district put up for sale, was referred to the ranger for report whether the bush can be sold. Edward Tubman’s application to purchase land, held under an agricultural lease in Mount Benger district, was granted. Connell and Moodie, on behalf of J. Clarke, applied for a reconsideration of Mr Clarke’s proposal to give up his claim to the 1900 acres at the northern end of his application aiva on run No. 215, on condition that the Board agrees to put up the fee simple of the 1900 acres, in sections as surveyed, to public competition at auctiou within six months from this date, and grant to Mr Clarke an equal area, to be selected by him in any other pars of the said run adjoining the present application, on the same terms as appears in No 402 D. It being understood that the provisions of section 46 of the Otago Waste Lands Act, 1866, as to repayment of survey expense*, shall ap ly to the said area of 1900 acres. Nothing in this application is iu any way to affect Mr Clarke’s claim for compensation for suspension or cancellation of lease over the said 1900 acres, or for the improvements or fences erected thereupon. The decision of the 15th of January was re-considered, and the proposals now submitted agreed to, Mr Reid dissenting.
