ACCIDENTS.
A miner, named W. Watkins, was mortally injured on the afternopn of the 19tb inst. by a heavy fall of earth, while working in his claim at the reefs, Shippers. The ser vices of Dr Scott were secured without delay, and he dressed the Sufferer’s wounds. While being brought down to the Queenstown Hospital, he died before reaching Skip pers Point. Strange to say, his mate, named Caspar, has not yet recovered fr.om injuries received in a similar manner about a fortnight since, while working in the same claim. A young man named John Turner, employed as groom at the White Hor.-e Hotel, George street, met with an accident on Saturday evt aim.', which we regret to say has terminated fatally. He was returning home from the races on horseback, and w hen passing through the Octagon his horse stumbled, precipitating him on to the roadway with considerable force. He was picked up" in an insensible state by the police and conveyed to .the hospital; but never regained consciousness, expiring at two o’clock yesterday afternoon- A severe fracture of the skull was the cause of death.
