MAYOR’S COURT.
This Day. (Before E. F. Ward, Esq., J.P., and James Brown, Esq., J.P. DRUNKENNESS.} Ralph Fuller was fined ss, and Patrick Kelly 20s, or 48 hours’ imprisonment. OBSCENE LANGUAGE. Ellen Dufty, charged with this offence, was fined 40s or three days’ imprisonment. THEFT. George M. Binnie, just discharged from gaol, was brought up on a charge of stealing a watch, the property of Alexander Allen, and was, on the application on the police, remanded till Saturday. Henrietta M‘Donald alias O’Brien, was sentenced to 21 days’ hard labor for stealing a dress, valued at 15s, the property of Margaret Moffat. MINOR OFFENCE. Alexander M‘Donald was 2s 6d, for allowing the Company’s water to run to waste. ASSAULT. William Wynn v. Christine Craig.—This was about one of the most harmless assaults ever heard of. The parties had been disputing about some chickens, when the defendant, to illustrate her view of the law, raised the lid of a milk-can, which she flourished until “at last it touched me on the face,” said Wynn. The case was dismissed.
