Tins Day. (Before Edward Francis Ward, Escj., J.P and James Brown, Esq., J.P.) DRUNKENNESS. Neil M'Neil was lined ss; William Smith, 10s ; and Ann White, 40s or seven days’ imprisonment. A WOMAN KICKER, Thomas Doudle charged Ellen Mason and Mrs Alexander with assault and using obscene language; but, by the dismissal of the complaint he was placed in the position of the defendants, being charged with assaulting the women. It appeared from the evidencethatontheOthiust., Mrs Mason, having beenstruck with astoue thrown by the defendant’s child, went to him to have the boy cor reefed. Instead of listening to her complaint, lie began to abuse her, finishing by assaulting her—kicking her severely, ami ceasing her down a right of way. He was and r the influence of liquor at the time. According to Mrs Alexander’s evidence, he wa-i given to treating women in this manner, having served .mother neighbour similarly to Mrs Mason a little time back. Mr Ward said the Bench thought the defendant had been guilty of a very cowardly assault. Assaults on women were becoming too rife and inu-t be put a stop to. Defendant would be lined L 5 and costs, including professional and medical witnesses’ costs. Mr M ‘Kay appeared for the complainant. KEEPING A DISORDERLY HOUSE. Mary (lately was charged by Alex. Mee with this olienee. As the complainant's obj ct was to get the def ndant out of the house occupied by her, and as the later agreed to leave, the case was adjourned till Friday to give her opportunity of doing so
