LORD BROUGHAM ON SPIRITUALISM
To the Editor. Sir, —Having given Professor Huxley’s opinion on spiritualism, would you be kind enough to publish the following remarks by Lord Brougham, on the same subject? They are from the preface to a work entitled. “Theßook of Nature,” by C. 0. G. Napier, F.C.S., written by that eminent statesmen ; “ There is one question I would ask the author—is the spiritualism of this work foreign to our materialistic, manufacturing age No, for amidst the varieties of mind which divers circumstances produce, are found those who cultivate man’s highest faculties. To these the author addresses himself.' But even in the most cloudless sky of scepticism I see a rain-cloud, if it be no bigger than a man’s hand—it is modern spiritualism.” I am, Ac., Investigator.
