SATURDAY HALF-HOLIDAY MOVEMENT.
To the Editor
Sir,— Would you oblige mo by inserting a few words on behalf of the poor cooks, waiters, etc., employed in the various hotels and restaurants in Dune iin. ISow that the Saturday half-holiday agitation is going on, through you I should like to know what opportunity we then should have, if this movement is carried ont—as we are from day to day (Sundays included) employed from fourteen to fifteen hours —to make our purchases ? I think that if another day was made a half-holiday, say Wednesday, it would hj dp us. I think that at least some thought should bo given to us unfortunate individuals. Perhaps somebody more able than my humble self will rise on our behalf, and oppose this one sided movement. 1 am, etc., O.VE OF THE Uu'FORJWATRS. Dunedin, March 5. [ We cannot see that because a few peculiarly situated will not be benefited, a good should be opposed. To deprive of it those ■vyhq can enjoy a holiday because there are gome who cannot, would be a very absurd application of tha represi libation of minorities.—Ed. B. .S'.]
